Kitara Foundation for Sustainable Tourism is at the heart of this movement, serving as the lead facilitator for over 50 Community-Based Tourism Organizations (CBTOs) across the Pearl of Africa. We are moving beyond the classroom to the frontlines of tourism development, and we are looking for the world’s brightest minds to join us.

Through our innovative 20% Community Fund model—where every visitor’s stay directly funds local social services—we are proving that tourism can be the primary engine for social and economic equity.

1. Sustainable Tourism Capacity Builders 📈 Are you a pro in sustainable business, digital marketing, or hospitality? Use your expertise to empower local communities. Help us train CBTOs to professionalize their services while staying rooted in their cultural identity.

2. The Advanced Field-Based Learning Program 🎓 Move from theory to high-impact practice. Hosted by the Kitara School of Tourism and Hospitality, this program integrates tourism professionals and students directly into award-winning CBTOs. Gain hands-on experience in the world’s most successful CBT models.

3. High-Impact CBT Research Volunteers 🔍 Unlock groundbreaking data in the heart of Africa. We provide academics and researchers a direct pathway to conduct deep-dive empirical investigations within Africa’s most successful community initiatives. Move from conceptual study to primary, life-changing research.

4. D-TIF Facilitators & Enterprise Mentors 🤝 Act as a catalyst for District Tourism Investors Forums (D-TIFs). We need mentors with a mix of soft and technical skills to accelerate collaborative governance and bridge the gap between local enterprises and global investors.
